Developers break ground on dormitory for Naropa University

BOULDER – Construction has begun a three-story, 28-bed dormitory for Naropa University at 2333 Arapahoe Ave. in Boulder.

The property is located two blocks from Naropa’s Arapahoe Campus.

Element Properties and Allison Management are partnering on the $4 million project that was announced in May.

Boulder-based Coburn Partners designed the building that is being built by Burke Builders LLC, also based in Boulder.

Construction is expected to be completed in summer 2017, and students are expected to move in for the 2017 fall semester.

“Coburn Partners has put together an innovative design that will help transform the Arapahoe corridor and serve Naropa and our community well,” said Catherine Bean, Element Properties’ director of development.

Being built on land that once was occupied by a Dairy Queen, the 7,200-square-foot building will include 18 rooms — eight single-bed and 10 two-bed rooms — a community kitchen and gathering space on the ground floor, a second-story meditation room and a third-story rooftop deck.
